ESC @ City Library Leipzig (Paunsdorf)

ESC @ City Library Leipzig (Paunsdorf)

Description:

The Leipziger Städtische Bibliotheken (LSB) are an important part of the city's cultural and educational landscape and provide centers for communication and information, reading promotion and education.

With a central library, 15 branches, a mobile library and an online-library, Leipzig Public Libraries (Leipziger Städtische Bibliotheken / LSB) are one of the largest public library systems in Germany, serving about 630,000 Leipzig residents.

LSB have 750,000 items in their collections including books for people of all ages, DVDs, e-books, e-magazines, autographs, art works, and musical scores. We offer a wide range of services, such as (early) literacy programs, computer and library training, and special services for immigrants. Each year 1,700 events – talks and lectures by authors, a variety of exhibitions, workshops, and discussions – take place in our branches. We collaborate with local organizations to provide educational and cultural offerings to the citizens of Leipzig.

The mission of LSB is to provide quality services, resources and lifelong learning opportunities through books and a variety of other formats to meet the informational, educational, cultural and recreational needs and interests of the city’s growing and changing population. LSB preserve and promote access to a broad range of human knowledge, information, and culture in a welcoming environment.

    • Decorating windows and other library spaces.
    • Preparing and conducting handicraft activities (sometimes on specific topics, e.g. related to a book reading).
    • Developing own event/workshop ideas (the library team is open to new concepts and provides support, including materials).
  • Library-related support tasks
    • Sorting and returning books to their places.

Selection criteria

We are looking for someone who is open-minded, socially competent and empathetic, and interested in working with children and elderly people.

You should be interested in cultural and educational work. You should also be able to work well in a team and be willing to learn German. Since you will be working with children in their free time, it is important to be creative and come up with ideas for activities such as painting and crafting. You would be best placed to fulfil these roles if you have the relevant talent or, at the very least, a keen interest in the areas in question.

Measles vaccination is mandatory!

Selection process

Please complete the online questionnaire you find on the link/ button below. We collect all applications until the deadline, then all applications that are complete will be forwarded to the responsible for the Leipziger Städtische Bibliotheken, who decide about the candidate. We only accept applications through our Google Form below. If you apply via e-mail, your application won't be considered!
