Clay&Ceramic for beginners - hand building techniques

Do you want to create beautiful ceramics but don’t know where to start?This workshop is for you!

Create ceramics inspired by the beauty of spring using floral and botanical motifs. Learn various techniques to imprint leaves, carve delicate flower patterns, or paint springtime designs. Your creations will capture the freshness and vibrancy of the season in clay.

In this 3,5-hour session, we’ll explore the fundamentals of working with clay and ceramics, from understanding different materials to unlocking their creative possibilities. Getting to know clay is the key to success—it will help you avoid common mistakes and build confidence in your craft.

You will learn three essential hand-building techniques that will allow you to experiment freely and shape your own ceramic pieces. We’ll also cover decoration and coloring methods to bring your designs to life. This workshop focuses on spring motives, but if you have a personal project in mind, bring your ideas! We’ll help you choose the best techniques and estimate the time needed for completion.

At the end of the session, your ceramic piece will be ready for firing, or you can continue refining it as a member of the Makerspace community.

About the Instructor

The workshop is led by Katarzyna Dudziak—a sculptor, visual artist, and performer with a background in philosophy and aesthetics. Her works have been exhibited in Poland, Germany, and Norway, and she was a resident of FRESH A.I.R. at Urban Nation, Berlin. With extensive experience in traditional crafts, theater, and new media, Katarzyna brings a unique artistic perspective to ceramic creation.
